‘He won’t reincarnate?’

     ‘He will not. He refuses.’

     The gods were baffled. They often cursed free will for being a

bane and a blight and would have gladly scrapped it altogether, but their hands were stayed by a mighty catch: without it, there wouldn’t be a spark of life to nurture and cherish.

     ‘And she?’

​

     ‘As vivacious as ever,’ sighed the head of reincarnation with a smile. ‘A peach. She’ll happily return at the drop of a hat. She never tires of the fun.’
